A case for better ‘independent’ action films! Scott Adkins has termed this as his passion project, Accident Man truly is one of his best action films so far, with Adkins producing, writing the script as well as playing the main lead Mike Fallon. Based on the short-lived British comic book series of the same name, Accident Man is distinct from the high budget Superhero flicks.

The lack of budget doesn’t stop it from being an action cult classic with decent humor. Scott Adkins has been around in the Indie action scene for more almost two decades cementing himself into an icon in his own right. He has been overlooked by big studios such as Marvel Studios, offering minor roles in blockbuster films. So, Adkins decides to bring his own anti-superhero flick with tons of crazy action and some of the biggest indie action stars - Michael Jai White, Ray Park, Amy Johnston, and Ray Stevenson, to name a few.

Scott Adkins and stuntman turned director, Jesse V. Johnson has given us some of the best independent action films in the recent past. The story is an adaptation of the Accident Man comic book series, whose protagonist Mike Fallon is a professional hitman who specializes in making his kills look like accidents, but the murder of his ex-girlfriend makes him turn on his kind to find the killer.

Jesse V. Johnson handled the project pretty well, provided the budget constraints, and lack of support from big studios, which also made me change my view about him. Scott Adkins is just a natural talent when it comes to action films, and I don’t think anyone does it better than him. His portrayal of Mike Fallon is brilliant (I have not read the comics). The rest of the stellar cast, as mentioned above, brings more firepower to the film with fight choreography by the super awesome Tim Man, who also plays a funny Triad guy in the film.

I read somewhere that some folks coined this film as a Deadpool rip-off, to which Adkins himself defended citing Accident Man comic books were in publication before Deadpool. Honestly, I didn’t find any similarities between the two characters. I loved the Accident Man, and if you haven’t watched it yet, then you are missing out on a crazy action movie.
