B OR NOT TO B #4 - Mission Of Justice (1992)

Mission Of Justice – Get the boom out

Director: Steve Barnett

Cast: Jeff Wincott, Brigitte Nielsen, Matthias Hues

The only thing that I’ll always remember about this film is the number of times I couldn’t help noticing the ‘boom mic’ appear on the frame. I’m pretty sure, Brent Schoenfeld the editor of the film wasn’t too happy about his pay that he didn’t even bother to cut it out from the frame.

Moving on, Mission Of Justice, is considered to be a cult film by many action fans, and even though there is hardly anything worth to remember from this B-flick, it does have that 90’s flavor, one that tastes like a strong coffee after waking up from a bad hangover, lacks the punch but does the job.

Jeff Wincott is yet another action star from the nineties who couldn’t survive the test of time, although he is still in the business, alive and kicking, but not someone you would instantly recognize unless you’ve been through the nineties VHS shelves. He is pretty good in the film. Then you have Brigitte Nielsen, whose career never took off, and Matthias Hues doing what he does.

The acting is all over the place, and so is the direction. But the film features one of the most cult action scenes, when Wincott passes through an assembly of bad guys, kicking their Asses. Something, which was copied in a Bollywood film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. And that’s pretty much I could dig through in the film.

Note: B or not to B is series of articles based on the B Action movies of the 80’s and 90’s. I am a big fan of these movies because they have a certain flavor not everyone can cherish. Many may cite them as sheer work of misdirected minds, but to me, they are a  source of real inspiration. These movies never had the budget to back them but still, the action and stunts were no less than any big studio. This is my tribute to some of the unsung films of the past.
