Jing Wu Ying Xiong AKA Fist Of Legend

Jing Wu Ying Xiong AKA Fist Of Legend (Cantonese/Japanese) 5.5/10
Genre: Action
Director: Gordon Chan
Cast: Jet Li
Year: 1994

This movie is regarded as a martial arts cult classic and it was on my watchlist for a longtime but after watching it, i felt it was a bit short of my expectation. A remake of the 1972 Bruce Lee starer Fist of Fury, you can find many similarities between the two movies but i personally liked the Bruce Lee's version of Chen Zhen than Jet Li. The story is about Chen Zhen who comes back to China, which is now invaded by the Japanese forces, to avenge his master who is killed in a duel but later finds out that things are more complicated than it seems. Jet Li as Chen Zhen did a fair job and the martial arts choreography by Yuen Woo-ping (who is best known for his choreography in The Matrix trilogy) was good if not great. The action was more full contact and hardcore rather than traditional wires and cables Hong Kong style action. The direction was ok. All in all a timepass action movie and one that doesn't leave a lasting impression on your mind.
